Reis, Marcelo Menezes2024-02-262024-02-262015-05-14https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14135/946This research presents an analysis of the certificated students profiles from the high school through ENEM, who managed to join one of the Higher Education Institutions through the SISU, between 2012 to 2014, aiming to expand discussions on public policies for this segment of the population. It was taken into consideration the influence of socioeconomic, cultural and academic perspectives in these choices, taking into account the dispositionalist theory of Pierre Bourdieu and rationalist theory according to Raymond Boudon. The basis of this study consists of socioeconomic data ENEM questionnaires (editions 2011 to 2013), made available by INEP, and data on enrollment, according to the SISU / MEC. Statistical techniques of exploratory data analysis, correspondence analysis and multinomial logistic regression were developed aiming to achieve the main goal of this study. The probabilities of major choices are presented in different scenarios, indicating the behavior of the variables in the context of those choices. It was observed, for example, that individuals with lower family income are more likely to choose traditional majors, supposedly less prestigious, such as the educational field, and those with higher household income are more likely to opt for allegedly more prestigious majors, such as Engineering, Production and Construction fields.
